In 2017 I took a Doula course offered by DONA in Victoria, BC and loved it so much that I followed up with the postpartum doula course the following month. In a lot of ways doula work felt complementary to my nursing career and I could apply a lot of what .I had learned during my years of nursing to help women in their third and fourth trimesters.In October 2019 I gave birth to a healthy baby girl. My birth was everything and nothing I had hoped for. So much of my birth plan had fallen aside due to birth being what birth is, unpredictable.I knew to expect things to not go as planned but it didn’t change my feelings of grief around my birthing experience. I left the hospital a different person than when I walked in just days before.Birth and motherhood has been a transformative journey for me and I would love to have a part to play helping women and their families through the most vulnerable and powerful time of their lives. My main focus is to provide warm, compassionate care while making my clients feel supported, heard and informed.
